Ward Fenton has been selling real estate for almost 50 years, specializing in farms, ranches, recreational properties, and rural acreages. Ward started selling real estate with his father-in-law back in the 1970’s, and hasn’t slowed down since then. He has helped buy and sell hundreds of rural properties across Montana and South Dakota.
Ward is a staple among the agricultural world in Montana. He has been working in the agricultural industry since he was a young boy, moving to Montana with his family in the 1940’s. After graduating from Eastern Montana College, Ward taught and owned a sporting goods store before buying his first ranch. Ward and his wife Alice owned and operated a cow and horse breeding operation for decades where they farmed 1500 irrigated acres, raised cattle that were crossed on European breeds, and excelled in the Appaloosa business, raising several national champions. Ward currently raises Quarter horses bred for their agility and calm temperament.
Service is a way of life for Ward. He served on the Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE) board for many years, serving as president and chairman of the horse show and sale committee. Ward was elected to the National Appaloosa Board of Directors where he served on a number of committees and helped support Appaloosa horse racing. He was instrumental in bringing the national show to Billings, Montana. Over the years, Ward has judged countless horse shows including National and World shows. He has also judged in Italy, Australia, and Guatemala. But some of his most rewarding experiences have been judging local horse shows, especially 4-H shows and fairs. Ward has volunteered countless hours to help young people with their horses and cattle.
